We all know that when it comes to wedding planning, sometimes we can find ourselves trying to juggle and accommodate the wants and wishes of others alongside our own - I mean, seating plans, anyone?
But not with your bridal beauty.
Your wedding hair and make up, in tandem with your gown, is really the one element of the wedding planning process that is wholly and utterly dedicated to making you feel your most beautiful and brilliant self. The experience should be truly luxurious, enjoyable, and one filled with pampering - which is exactly what I do. As one of my brides said, I am your modern day fairy godmother.
Once you have reserved your date, it is time that we get to know each other - no one wants a stranger encroaching on their wedding morning! As all of my brides & clients have said about our time together, both at their trials and on the wedding day itself, it was much more like being with an old friend rather than simply a hair & make up artist. And, it's true! I am so very excited for your wedding and to being a little part of the magic.
So we start with a pre-trial Zoom consultation. It is the perfect moment to get to know one another, but also this is your opportunity to tell me everything about your wedding and the look you have been envisioning. I'd love to hear about your dress, your venue, colour schemes, hair styles, accessories, all the elements that we can take into account when building your bespoke bridal look that is cohesive with the style of your day. We will also discuss your current skincare routine and I can offer some tips from my own experience to ensure we are getting your skin to its very best.
After your call, I will send you the link to a shared Pinterest board for us to pin any images of red carpet or make up looks that inspire you.
Next - the physical trial itself! This is two and a half hours of pampering and collaboration, where we really invest the time in achieving your ideal, bespoke look. This will most often take place on a weekday at my home in Essex, but I can travel to you at an additional cost.
Firstly, we will go through skincare and any concerns that you have. Where I can, I will advise on what products may help ensure your skin is at its best for the day - I am by no means a dermatologist but I do love my skincare and skincare research! Once we have your skin glowing, hydrated and plumped, I will then begin to create the look we discussed on our Zoom call, using any inspiration images you may have pinned as a reference. Throughout the process, I will touch base with you - remember, this is your wedding day so we can tweak lipsticks, eyeshadow shades, eyeliner flicks, coverage; mixing shades until they are the perfect hue for you.
When you look in the mirror at the finished look, I want you to feel nothing but joy.
If you have opted for a second evening look, we will also use the trial to create both of your looks.
Once we are all finished, I will keep a note of all the products, both skincare and make up, I have used ready to recreate the look for your wedding day. Time allowing, I will even capture a few sneaky snaps on my DSLR as a memento of the day but also so you can see how it looks on camera.
The time has come for the big day itself and I will be there with my kit in tow, a bespoke Spotify playlist created for your wedding morning in my phone, and a Cheshire Cat sized grin on my face. In the month before, I will have emailed you a schedule for the morning so everyone will know when to be sat in the make up chair but don't worry, on the day itself I will have a few spare copies in my suitcase.
Now being the woman of the hour, you are going to be in high demand which is why, to ensure you have a little time just to yourself to relax and breathe, I schedule in a luxury sheet mask into your make up time. Before removing it, I will give you a mini facial massage to ensure your skin absorbs all that gorgeous serum and to boost circulation. More importantly, it is that extra little bit of pampering to have you feeling fantastic - inside and out.
With your skin all prepped, I will go on to recreate the make up look we perfected at your trial. Once you are happy, I will stay with you and your bridal party until you are ready to leave so that I can deliver those all important final touches to have you picture perfect.
As a little bonus, I will make sure to have a little pot of your chosen lipstick and some blotting paper ready for you so that you can stay fresh and flawless no matter the amount of kisses or dances.
